01Why do beginners pretty much need the app?
Some ask: can't I just use the web version? You can, but a few key things really only run smoothly in the app:

- P2P funding — choosing a merchant, placing an order, confirming payment received and sent, all flow better in the app, and it's easier to track progress on the go.

Whichever it is, we'd suggest starting at okx.com: once on the official download page, it gives you the correct entry for your system, so you're less likely to tap the wrong thing.

03No Google Play on Android? Install the apk from the site
Plenty of Android phones don't have Google Play, and downloading the apk from the site is actually simple:
Open the official site in your phone's browser
In the browser address bar, type okx.com letter by letter (or go in via a "Sign up for OKX" button on this site to the official domain), and find the Download / App entry. Be sure the domain isn't misspelled.
Download the Android apk
The page detects you're on Android and offers an Android download. Tap download and wait for the apk to finish. The file usually lands in your "Downloads" folder.
Allow "install from unknown sources"
When you open the apk to install, the system will most likely warn "for your safety, installing apps from unknown sources is blocked." In settings, temporarily grant permission to the browser/file manager you used. The premise is that you've confirmed this apk came from okx.com — what you're authorizing is the "source," and the source has to be right for it to be safe.
Finish installing, open the app

04iOS can't find it / says region-restricted?
Some iPhone users can't find OKX in their own Apple ID region's App Store, due to regional availability differences. Two paths:
- Hold the line with the web version. Open
okx.comin Safari; registering, logging in, checking the market, placing orders — the web version handles most of it, so you can get your account going without delay. - Switch to another region's Apple ID to download (carefully). Some users use an Apple ID from another region to download. This carries account and compliance risk, and could affect the normal use of your existing Apple ID. 05How to spot a fake app at a glance
Fake apps are beginners' second most common trap (the first is lookalike sites). Remember a few things:

- Don't enter your password in a fake app. If anything about the interface, domain, or flow feels off, stop immediately and re-download from the official site.

06App installed — what's the first step?
With the app in hand, don't go tapping randomly.
